My Grandmother's Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies by Resmaa Menakem

Taking a deep dive into social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion led me to this book on how we heal from our past to move toward our future. It offers an alternative view on how we can grow beyond our entrenched racialized divide. I recommend this book because it provides an alternative healing method (mentally and physically) when it comes to racial trauma in the US.

Behind The Facade: How to Structure Company Operations for Sustainable Success by Alicia Butler Pierre

Partnering with small businesses led me to Pierre and her work. Small businesses fail not from the lack of customers but many times because of the lack of sustainable processes and operations. Consulting often leads to identifying areas of risk, lack of structure, technology, accountability, and frequently a sufficient talent development and acquisition process. I recommend this book because it ties all you need to know about any business together from cover to cover.

Rosey Rhyne

Naked Statistics: Stripping the Dread from the Databy Charles Wheelan

This book is a favorite of mine because it simplifies statistical concepts through real-world examples. It is a quick read and provides a nice stats refresher with some humor built in.

On Becoming a Person: The Therapist's View of Psychotherapyby Carl R. Rogers

Rogers is the founder of humanistic psychology. In this compelling and life-changing book, he describes a powerful journey for how individuals can completely transform their lives positively by learning to listen to their own organismic self-experience.

Neuroscience: Exploring the Brain by Mark Bear, Barry Connors and Michael A. Paradiso

Our understanding of how we think, feel, and behave is never complete without a clear understanding of the biological basis of our human experience. This book explains the neuroscience behind our thoughts, emotions, and actions in a clear and easy-to-understand way.

The Power of a Positive No: Save the Deal Save the Relationship and Still Say No by William Ury

This is an invaluable guide that teaches leaders how to ground what’s truly important and provides empowering tips and techniques for delivering that all important “no” in a productive and relationship-building way. This is a must for leaders at every level.
